Clean Program Files
This might sound silly to some people, but not all programs leave any program files on your computer. If you have an unscheduled task or important file that you forgot to clean up, it can significantly slow down your computer.
To remove these files, go to the command prompt. Type in “cleanmgr”. Enter. If there isn’t a command prompt on your computer, you can always type in “msconfig” and press enter.
Click on the “Startup” tab and uncheck all the programs that are not necessary to be loaded up when your computer starts up.
Defragment the Hard Drive
This final method is one of the most effective methods of speeding up your computer. Generally speaking, any file that is not accessed for a long time can make your computer run slower. When you computer starts up, it takes time for all the programs that will need to run to load. Each program will then run with a certain amount of energy. As you probably already know, this doesn’t actually use all that much energy. After that, the hard drive is then used to find the files that you need to run. Of course, it doesn’t actually access each file, but rather the essence of that specific file. So, the next time you turn on your computer, it now takes longer to find the files – and therefore your computer is slow!
To fix this, you need to defragment your hard drive once in a while. If you have not defragmented your drive in months, do so at least once a month. There are several different programs you can use, but the most well-known and used are defragmenter and scandisk.
Some other Very Useful Programs and Tools

Though the amounts of space they take will vary, you may still be able to free up a lot of space by eliminating their pointless.
Scanning your computer for unnecessary programs is not the only way to free up space. It is also important to keep your registry clean so that it doesn’t keep adding things to your computer’s registry. The registry is a central database for your computer. Once you are done with it, you will be able to increase the speed of your computer.
Every time you install or uninstall a program, there can be changes to the registry. If you are not careful, you (or your software) can end up with a registry full of errors and corrupted files that cannot be repaired.
