11 Ways to Spend Your Free Time

We all have those days where we are feeling a little bored. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but it can be annoying sometimes. After all, what is life without a good way to kill time? Luckily there are plenty of ways to keep yourself busy and entertained during your free time! In this article, I will list some of my favorite ways that you can spend your free time with!

1. Watch a movie with your friends

If you want to do something with friends, watching a movie is always a good way to kill some time. You can get snacks and make your own personal theater. It’s not the most active activity but it’s still fun and social.

2. Go to the library and pick up a book

One way to pass the time is to go to the library and pick up a book. The library provides books for all sorts of different topics so you’ll never have a problem finding what you want to read. Plus, they have really comfy chairs!

Art galleries are a great way to relax and take in some new work. It’s not only the artwork that can entertain you, but also talk to others about it. You can make a day of it and visit different art galleries around your city. This is a great practice for people who want to become artists themselves since it helps them get a feel for what other people are doing in the field nowadays.

4. Take a walk around the block or through the park

One of the best ways to spend your free time is to take a walk. You can do it around the block or through the park, explore new places, breathe in the fresh air, meet people, and just enjoy yourself. There are so many different things you can do on a walk that it’s hard to list them all.

5. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen  or animal shelter

First, you have to identify what organizations take volunteers. You then contact the organization and sign up for a time that is suitable for you. After this, you get all of your clothing together and go to the organization’s office to get your uniform and any other supplies that they require from you.

6. Write in your journal for 10 minutes each day about anything you want to get off of your chest

Write in your journal for 10 minutes each day about anything you want to get off of your chest. Sometimes, we need to write our thoughts and feelings out on paper. When we share these things with ourselves, we can make sense of them and work through them a little easier. Sometimes writing down a list of the things that are bothering us will help to clear our head and focus on what’s important.

Doing this may be difficult at first, but it only gets better with practice.

7. Spend time with friends and family

One of the best ways to spend your free time is by spending it with friends and family. The days can fly by so quickly, so it’s important to spend some time to relax and enjoy their company. And because everyone wants to unwind, they won’t be put off if you don’t want to talk about life, politics or religion.

It’s important that you take care not to burn out on socializing though. Friends don’t like staying friends if you’re always available for them when they need someone to vent too. And who knows? You might even make new friends!

8. Volunteer your skills or donate to a charity

You don’t have to have a lot of money or a ton of free time to be a philanthropist. You can donate your time, skills, and even your low-value items. If you’re passionate about animals, for example, you could volunteer at an animal shelter once a week or offer up your car to help people in need pick up their groceries.

Doing something for someone else is great therapy that will give you an opportunity to meet new people and make a difference in the lives of others. 9. Get outdoors for some fresh air and exercise

Take your dog on a walk, go for a jog, finish that puzzle on the coffee table, paint the room you’ve been putting off painting. Exercise benefits both mind and body. Get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air by doing something physical like these examples!

10. Read – you’ll be surprised how many books you can read in one week!

You may be surprised just how many books you can read in a week, and it doesn’t even seem like that much time has passed. You could spend an entire day reading and not feel like you lost any time.

11. Watch TV, but don’t forget to give the remote back after the show is over!

No one can really blame you if you like to watch TV. It’s only natural! But when others are watching too, it’s important to remember that that remote belongs in your hand and not theirs. After the show is over, give it back in a courteously manner.
